Meeting–Apr 29, 2008.
The minutes of the April 29, 2007 meeting were approved as
printed in the newsletter.
The Treasurer’s report for fiscal year, 06/07, ended with a
checking account balance of $3486.65; plus a $1500.00 CD
with $11.36 in interest for the 3 months of its existence.

Chapter 25 has its own website! The web site will consist
of chapter information only i. e. bylaws, minutes, etc. More
information forthcoming.
Al Darby, RPEA’s Director of Communication spoke on
RPEA’s newsletter the new process of producing the
newsletter with advertisements to reduce the cost. Also,
brought us up to date on the legislative bills in the state
assembly and senate. He mention that the Governor has
decided not to dip into our pension, but is looking for tax
loopholes.

Speaker Judith Clark discussed the law enacted that
members of Congress and everybody has to pay social
security; that 6.7 million public employees do not pay into
social security: the duel entitlement rule, and the WEP
affects on our benefits. Sanate Bill 206 was introduced by
Diane Feinstein. The Social Security – GOP offset affects
more women than men.
RPEA Area VIII Director Bill Donoghue gave a presentation
on the problems the law suit with the Orange County
Supervisors that turns back their pension and health care
benefits that were voted on and approved years ago. He
also reported that the OC Register planed to print names,
addresses and income of county employees. The Register
received letters from so many OCEA that the city agreed
not to give out this information. OCEA showed that then
employees are unjustly attacked, solidarity works.
The 50/50 and $2.00 bill raffles were held.
